New Years!

I’m wearing a black ruffled strapless dress from my upcoming Fall 10 collection.  Paired with a strong shouldered cropped blazer.

A questionable crowd and really bad music but overall a fun night.

I am definitely looking forward to 2010!!  There are some big things coming up this year.  Vegas and LA trade shows are booked for February and March, a potential west coast sales rep is in the works, one of my strongest fall collections is almost finished, and a possible solo show is in the near future.   Whew!  Good luck to me and I hope you have a great 2010.

Inspired: Japan Street Style

The Japanese are no stranger to over-the-top style and individual expression.  Some of my favorite Japanese designers are Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons, meaning ‘like boys’ in French, and Junya Watanabe, who was originally the protege of Comme des Garçons.  I also have a deeply rooted love for Tokyo because there is a boutique there that sells my garments, called Rizzi B, which gives me a reason to take a trip to Japan one day soon.

Recently, I stumbled across this Japanese street style blog called Drop Snap, Dropsnap.jp.  I encourage anyone who is in a need of a wardrobe wake-up call to check it out.  Here are a few ’snaps’ from the blog:

The blog also tells us the name, occupation, and age of each person featured and what designer they are wearing.  It also has a list of events happening in Tokyo and a link to other fashion savvy bloggers… how brilliant!  Though most of the blog is unreadable, unless you can read Japanese, the pictures are inspirational enough to keep this newly found blog on my bookmarks bar.

Trends spotted:  play on proportion, patterned tights, mixing colors and patterns, mixing textures such as fur and ruffles, layering clothing
