Top 5 favorite fall 2010 (high) heels…paired with AC outfits, of course

I’m sure most of you that know me know I am a huge shoe fanatic.  Unfortunately, like most of us, I have champagne taste on a beer (or sometimes water) budget.   There’s nothing wrong with a little drooling over this seasons best of the best high heels and here are some of my favorites, in no particular order.

1-  Yves Saint Laurent- Palais Mohawk Suede Pumps $935

These are some killer, punk inspired, heels with an astonishing 150mm (6 inch)  heel!  I would pair these with something black and structured for a downtown chic look.  Try the AC 3 tier dress now available in stores:

2-  Miu Miu- Glitter Leather Loafer Pumps  $695

Perfect for the Holidays, these bordeaux leather Miu Miu dream loafers would look great with tights, trouser socks or bare legs all year round.  I love the solid black platform and stacked heel to give it some weight and the delicate ankle strap adds an unexpected detail on a loafer style platform.  Pair it with the AC black and white print cross-front dress to add a splash of color:

Also,  these matching Miu Miu bow-embellished suede gloves would top off the whole look:

3-  Alexander McQueen- Buckled Leather Shearling Ankle Boots $1,695

These mahogany leather shearling boots encompass everything that I want in a boot right now.  The ultra trendy shearling leather is a must-have for the season and the brass buckle closure somewhat reminds me of ice-skate buckles, which I find endearing.  These boots will look great paired with everything and the ultra high-heel makes them a bit unpractical, but totally worth it!  Pair with black AC trousers and layer with a tank, jacket, and scarf.

4- Elizabeth and James- Snake-Effect Leather Pumps $395

A much more practical option, these blush colored pumps are a great way to be on-trend with the barely-there nudes phenomenon we’ve been seeing on the runway the last couple of seasons, which is sure to carry through for many more seasons to come.  You could literally live in these pumps and the 1″ platform will make them easily transition from work to play.  Pair them with practically everything especially the Amanda Christine abstract floral silk overlay dress:

5- Alaia- Cutout Calf Hair Platform Pumps $2,375

I am all about texture and these off-white cutout suede platform booties cannot be any more perfect!  The lace-like quality of these shoes take them to a whole other level.  You could literally wear these right into spring and summer (and you should with that price tag) and you’ll fit right in with all the white ensembles we’ve been seeing on the SS11 runways.   For now, pair with anything black, beige or white to give it that modern edge.  Try the Amanda Christine strapless ruffle dress to create an ultra girly cocktail outfit:

Ok, so I couldn’t stick to just 5 pairs because there are just too many great ones to pass up.  Here are a bunch more that I couldn’t leave out:

-Alexander Wang- Addison Leather Boots

I LOVE these boots!  There’s something about the retro chunky heel and the mustard toe that make my heart skip a beat every time I look at them.  Please, somebody, I must be buried in these!  I’m obsessing over the Alexander Wang FW10 runway look where these were first seen:

- Yves Saint Laurent- Palais Platform Suede Pumps in Electric Blue $720

There are no words for this piece of absolute shoe art.  I believe this will be the new must-have YSL Tribute.

-Alaia- Lace-up Calf Hair Pumps $1,830

I’ve never been a huge fan of leopard but for some reason I really love these.  Their almost more spotted, which means they will outlast the leopard craze trend.

- Givenchy- Calf Hair Ankle Boot $1,190

Classic Givenchy, you could wear these anywhere from mowing the lawn to walking the streets of NYC.

- Alexander Wan- Polina Goat Fur Leather Boots $925

He does it again, Alexander Wang always has a way with surprise and wonder.  Yes, I love these boots, most of you may not, which I understand.  You might have to be a little crazy to wear these but, you know, sometimes we’re all a little crazy sometimes.

There are many more I’d like to post but maybe next time  :)

Fall Holiday (much needed)

Posted: September 10th, 2010 | Author: Amanda | Filed under: Uncategorized | No Comments »

After a full month of Las Vegas trade shows, producing my Fall 2010 runway event, doing numerous model fittings, and prepping orders for fall shipments, I am in need of a much needed va-ca to one of my favorite destinations, Denver, Colorado.  I’ll be heading out in less then 3 weeks from today and I am really looking forward to some fresh mountain air, quality time with my hubby, and some incredible eats and treats.  On Sept 29th, I fly into Denver and stay for 2 short nights before heading to Vail and Aspen for the rest of the weekend.   There will be plenty of window shopping, and we’ll possibly venture onto some mountainous hiking trails (making sure to pack my engineer hiking boots).  Curling up next to a fireplace in a log cabin with a heavy blanket and a bottle of Malbec sounds like the perfect way to unravel after a hectic month.
